King Abdulaziz Camel Festival

You probably know how Camels are a significant part of the saudi culture, that they became a symbol of saudi heritage. For this reason, Saudi Arabia organizes multiple Camel Festivals throughout the year in different regions of the country. One of which is King Abdulaziz Camel Festival that takes place in the desert of Dahna in the outskirts of Riyadh every winter.

The most popular activities at the festival are the camel race and the camel beauty contest. The prices of these contests are worth millions of Saudi Riyals.

The festival will be accompanied by a series of other cultural activities and educational exhibitions.

You will learn so much about camels and most importantly how modern technology is used in these kinds of sports.

It’s good to have these kinds of festivals that reminds saudis of their true roots and Identity during all these massive changes the country is going through.

⏱Time: the festival will start on the 5th February – 17 March 2019. However; not all the activities start on that day.

❗️:It’s not recomended to visit the festival in the first days.

📍Location: Click here – the venue is about 100km far to the north from riyadh in ar-rumhiyah. You can go with your private car or you can take One of the festivals public buses. There are two streets leading to the venue, the main one shown on Google maps might be blocked so take the next one (1km to the south)
