Hijr Park

Hijr park with it’s great Mushroom like towers is one of the most beautiful parks hidden inside the diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh. It was developed in the late 1970’s as part of the huge project of the Diplomatic Quarter.

Hijr is a name of an ancient town located in modern Riyadh that was described by the famous Arab traveler “Ibn Battuta” on his Visit as a city of canals and trees.

There are no canals anymore but you can still find the trees, that are drought-tolerant and can withstand both the scarcity of water and the extremely hot climatic conditions of Riyadh.
