Saudi Door

“Saudi Door” ca. 1960’s

Traditional Saudi houses in Riyadh region are known to be so simply built out of mud-bricks and wood with it’s wooden doors being decorated with colorful patterns.

This way of building has changed in the late 1950’s and reinforced concrete became more common. The traditional wooden doors became no longer popular but were replaced by metal ones.
The replacement is still impressive though.

👌: a lot of these metal doors made during the late 1950’s-1970’s were decorated with two crossed swords and a palm tree in the middle. This, as you might know, is the National emblem of Saudi Arabia.
