“Souq Al-Hilla – سوق الحلّة”
Also known as “سوق الطرب – Souq Attarab”
Al-Hilla is a musical instruments market that is barely heard of. It is situated somewhere between old complex buildings in the heart of Riyadh as if it was meant to be hidden from something.
In the late 1960’s many saudi musicians have started there path from there and it has astonishingly survived until this day despite public opinion about musicians in past years.
Visitors of Al-hilla can find all popular instrument in Saudi such as Oud, Drums, Violins and even Guitars.
Most instruments are produced in neighboring Arab countries except the “Taar” (Drum) and Rababah (Violin), that are produced in Saudi.
👌Tip: Totally recommend buying a “Rababah” from there as a souvenir, it’s locally made.
If you go there check out how they pack the instruments for customers (Bags type).
⏱Hours: best time to go there is between 04:00 p.m. – 09:00 p.m.
📍Location: Al Hilla street on the right side if you’re heading west, near al Madina al Munawarah Rd crossing, Al Oud District, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Click here
